As a Purple Heart veteran of the Korean War, I have been under VA care for the last 6 years. My prescribed medications had increased to an overwhelming 18 doses of various pills of every size and color twice a day plus 5 insulin shots in the same 24 hour period. My friend, Annie rolled her eyes each time I stuffed handfuls of pills and capsules in my mouth choking on the shear amount being forced down a reluctant throat.
